Roberto
Goncalves a native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, began playing lead and rhythm guitar
in clubs in 1982. Fouder of Saturno V first Free Jazz Band of Sao Paulo. He
also toured Brazil with important artists such as Perla and Rosa Morena. Founder
of "Origem Productions" responsible for composing and production of
jingles for corporations like "Estrela," "Coppertone" and
many others, and also produced and recorded the albums Bucaneira , Maria Alcina
and Blues e Derivados, Nuno Mindelis. After coming to United States, Florida,
in 1992, Roberto performed in shows with renown Brazilian Artists such as Luiz
Airao , Eduardo Dusek, Eliana Pitman and Marquinhos Sata.
Came to Atlanta in 1996 and graduated at AIM (Atlanta Institute of Music) with
a degree in Guitar Performance. He played acoustic guitar on Linda Ramson's
CD Remember When. And played in gigs around town as well. 1997 started to work
as a free lancer music producer for Turner Network writing and producing numerous
music tracks for promos winning 4 Promax TV prizes and also composing the entire
soundtrack for "Terra a Vista" an animated soap opera for Cartoon
Network Latin America.
Roberto is also a co founder of the Brazilian Jazz Band Tropicus 22 that performed
in important venues here in the city of Atlanta such as the Atlanta Jazz Festival,
year 2000 and 2001. and some festivals in Nashville. In the year of 2000 he
joined the band that was performing at the Loca Luna, together with Drew Duddley,
Juan Bonini, Vlamir Abbud and Andre Rievers, which turned into Rua 6 and produced
their first CD.
Beginning of year 2002 he went to Brazil and joined Bananeira Band in a two
and a half months tour to Monaco. Back from Europe he played in different groups
in Sao Paulo, Brazil such as Grooveland (old school funk band) and Tao Banda
(all original pop music band) end of 2002 and all 2003. He started to record
his own CD.
Now back in Atlanta, USA, beginning of 2004, he plays in regular gigs around
town, and also produced Valerie Hines' newest CD, circle, and Serenata Band'
s CD (Latin Jazz) as well. August 2005 he begun the one and only Brazilian Music
radio show in Atlanta - Brazilian Waves-
He now is releasing his first CD solo Destino (December/2005) and leading Tropicus
Band. Roberto is always ready for good music.
